We're convinced that Forza Motorsport is out to take over the universe. With the racing simulator's only real competitor, Gran Turismo, sucking wind, the title is kicking in teeth and taking what it wants. An example, you ask? Not only will Forza 4 feature the M12 FAV Warthog from Halo, the combat vehicle will receive an introduction from none other than Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame. How's that for a few of your favorite worlds colliding? Word has it that the Warthog isn't the only vehicle that will receive the Jezza treatment, as the game's Autovista mode will introduce players to a wide variety of new metal.
Clarkson approaches the imaginary attack vehicle with his typical sarcasm and snark, which results in the kind of hilarity that we've come to know and love from the portly presenter and columnist. Official: Audi S6, S7 and S8 revealed ahead of Frankfurt debut

When Audi introduces a new S model, enthusiasts sit up straight and listen. Don't even ask what happens when the German automaker rolls out two at a time, let alone three or four. But that's what Ingolstadt has in store for us in Frankfurt this year.
Once the show opens in a couple of weeks from now, we'll have a new S6 (both sedan and Avant wagon), S7 and S8 on our hands. And they're looking pretty sweet so far.
At the top of the heap is the new S8 sedan, which adopts the new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that Audi has developed with Bentley, driving all four wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. With 520 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque on tap, the big sedan is said to be good for a hugely fast 4.2-second sprint to 62 miles per hour and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
The S6 and S7, meanwhile, get a detuned version of the same turbo eight with 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, good for 4.8 and 4.9-second acceleration runs, respectively. Cylinder deactivation and an active noise cancelation system are also part of the package on the entire range, and we're anticipating getting each of these models - minus the S6 Avant - in American showrooms.

McLaren: 2011 not a lost cause yet
McLaren is not ready to write off the 2011 campaign as a lost cause, despite Sebastian Vettel's Belgian Grand Prix victory having appeared to all but kill off the world title battle. Vettel's latest triumph has left him 92 points ahead of his team-mate Mark Webber in the championship standings, with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso 102 points adrift and Jenson Button 110 off. Report: Arrinera links up with Lee Noble's Fenix

Whenever cottage industry supercars come up, Lee Noble's name at least gets a mention. Noble is the man behind the unbelievable Noble M12 and M400; part supercars, part kit cars that Noble designed, built and marketed from a garage in England.
Now, Noble has teamed up with Polish firm Arrinera to bring its supercar to life. Featuring acres of carbon fiber and a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1-sourced mill, the car is should hit 60 in just 3.2 seconds, and can reportedly do the 0-124-0 sprint in 14.3 seconds. That's fast by anyone's measure.
No word on what kind of pricing you can expect yet, but the car should be available as a 2013 model. Though Lee Noble only owns five percent of the company, his expertise in getting boutique rockets to market certainly can't hurt Arrinera's chances.

Being from the Boston area means you learn handful of facts specific to The Hub. One of them is that Kevin Youkilis (A.K.A. "The Greek God of Walks," "Youk") is a great pro baseball player with a few years left in the tank (despite his 2011 woes). Another fact is that you can't throw a stone in New England without hitting a Herb Chambers dealership. As a former resident of the great state of Massachusetts, your author is an Escalade-sized Red Sox fan and also worked a summer shuttling rental cars between two of Chambers' dealerships.

VW to assess Emma Gilmour
New Zealand driver Emma Gilmour has been linked to a Volkswagen try-out on this year's Rally Great Britain. The 29-year-old, a regular in her native NZ championship, has been in contact with the German firm and will test a Skoda Fabia S2000 ahead of a possible start on November's final round of the World Rally Championship. VW is using an S2000 Skoda programme to evaluate potential drivers for its 2013 WRC project.

Power: Sears Point key to title race
Will Power believes that this weekend's IndyCar race at Sears Point is key to keeping his hopes of reeling in Dario Franchitti's points lead alive. Franchitti heads into the weekend with a 47-point buffer over Power with five races to go, and Power - who won the Sonoma race last year - said that a good result on Sunday will be vital if he is to stay in the hunt. "[The championship] is going to come down to who is going to make the least amount of mistakes," the Penske driver said.

Stoner heads final Indy practice
Casey Stoner set the fastest two-wheeled lap of the Indianapolis road course as he went quickest in the final free practice session for this weekend's MotoGP race at the US venue. The Honda rider was knocked off the top spot by the Yamaha of Ben Spies after 25 minutes, but responded just a few seconds later with a lap of 1m39.538s, which broke the outright track record set in qualifying by Dani Pedrosa in 2009.

World championship leader Sebastian Vettel admitted there was little to be learned during Friday practice at Spa, with only a few minutes of dry running across the two sessions. Long Term: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI: August 2011

August was quite the month for our long-term Volkswagen Jetta TDI. Not only did our diesel darling roll over the 10,000-mile mark, it did so while making its journey across the United States - Detroit to Los Angeles - with AOL Autos' Michael Zak behind the wheel.
Before hitting the road, we took the Jetta in for its first scheduled maintenance appointment, all of which was covered under Volkswagen's carefree maintenance program (no-cost scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles). We had the oil changed, tires rotated, fluids topped off, and other key points inspected. Simple stuff. Upon dropping the car off at the dealership, though, we found out that there was an open recall on our car for - wait for it - wind noise. The service technicians told us that the driver door's sound deadening materials would be inspected and replaced, and to be honest, there wasn't any noticeable difference in wind noise when we picked the car up from service later that day.
In any case, the Jetta was now primed and ready for its cross-country voyage, which meant saying goodbye to the Jetta as we handed the keys over to Michael Zak. After four months of service with our east coast staff, it was time for the Jetta to head west. Click through the jump to read more.

Webber expects contract in near future
Mark Webber expects his contract extension with Red Bull Racing to be sorted out in the very near future, even though he admits his new deal is not yet a 'formality'. The Australian met with Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz over the summer break to discuss his future plans, and also held further talks with team principal Christian Horner to talk about 2012. But despite matters moving in the right direction, Webber has said that nothing is finalised yet - although he thinks it only now a matter of time.

What We Like: There's no denying that consumers associate the Hamstars with Kia and the Soul. Even if you came upon this commercial part of the way through and saw a giant dancing hamster in hip-hop gear, you'd know what was being shilled. Like previous Hamstar spots, the music here is undeniably catchy. The track by LMFAO is called Party Rock Anthem and recently enjoyed a six-week run atop the Billboard Top 100.
What We Don't Like: The overall concept is pushing further into the realm of ridiculous. Yes, we've already come to a place in our lives where we can accept dancing hamsters as successful spokesanimals. We can't, however, see them using their shuffling skills to end a futuristic war waged by vicious robots/warriors/aliens that are open to the idea of getting foot loose. Also, we already mentioned that the track is catchy, and that is a positive... but it's one that will turn into a negative over time.
Strategy: Kia is reaching out to the demographic it believes is most interested in the Soul. This spot will make its television debut during the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), where tweens, teens and college folk will soak it in just as they would the latest episode of The Jersey Shore. The song will resonate with the demographic, and David&Goliath believes those future or current car shoppers will associate it with the 2012 Kia Soul. Still, while we understand the agency wanting to push the Hamstars in a new direction, having them establish galactic harmony through dance is a bit much.

Schumacher changes race engineer
Michael Schumacher's race engineer at Mercedes has changed, with his former assistant race engineer Peter Bonnington taking over the role from Mark Slade. Slade was formerly Kimi Raikkonen's race engineer at McLaren, and was recruited from Renault, where he worked with Vitaly Petrov, for this season. He has taken up what a team spokesperson described as "a factory-based role within race engineering" because he has "decided to stop travelling".
