We all tend to get a bit overzealous at times - we'll call it part of human nature - and as many times as not, our tendencies to show off manifest themselves most when we're behind the wheel of a hot new sports car. Like, say the brand new Toyota GT 86, also known as the 2013 Scion FR-S here in the States, or, in Subaru form, the BRZ.
Such is the case with the unlucky fellow you'll see in the video embedded below. During what appears to be a drive event for Toyota's new coupe, taking place on a wet track in what we believe is Japan, one driver exceeded his talent level in a bright red GT 86, sending it careening into a makeshift wall.
The good news is that it was a low-speed mishap, which means nobody was injured and the car will need little more than a decent buffing. Or maybe a new fascia... either way, no big deal. See the video clip below.

Reigning V8 Supercars champion Jamie Whincup sealed pole position for tomorrow's first qualifying race as part of the Australian Grand prix support races at Albert Park. Ford defends decision to keep pushing
Ford team director Malcolm Wilson and Jari-Matti Latvala have defended the decision to keep pushing on the longest stage of Rally Mexico - the stage where the Finn crashed out of third place. Report: Ford sued for allegedly using defective gas tanks in F-Series and E-Series from 1999 to 2008

According to a report from Reuters, Ford has been sued for allegedly selling F-Series pickup trucks and E-Series vans with defective fuel tank linings. The suit alleges that Ford knew about the problem and continued to sell affected vehicles over a 10-year period.
According to the complaint, the fuel tank lining of Ford's full-size trucks and vans built between 1999 and 2008 can "separate and flake off," clogging the fuel system and causing the truck to stumble or stall. Further, Ford is said to have issued a "secret" technical service bulletin to dealers about the problem, but never issued a recall or offering to fix customer vehicles for free.
The complaint, brought on by Coba Landscaping and Construction Inc of New Jersey and its principal Galo Coba, is said to be seeking class-action status on behalf of all owners of affected models. Considering that the Ford F-Series pickup was the best-selling vehicle between 1999 and 2008, that's a heck of a lot of owners.
Ford has yet to comment on the issue, saying it has not received the complaint. Apparently, the issue is unrelated to the rusted-out gas tank straps found by certain F-Series owners in snowy climates.

Report: Branson Auto Museum pledges to rebuild after tornado
A tornado with 130-mile-per-hour winds touched down in the tourist area of Branson, MO, in late February. Among the many damaged businesses was the Branson Auto Museum, which lost its roof, according to Old Cars Weekly. The majority of the 100-plus cars in the museum survived the disaster, though at least seven were damaged by debris.
Branson Auto Museum manager Sue Uygun tells OCW that the museum plans to rebuild and reopen in the same location as soon as possible, but will be closed for at least a couple of months. The museum was launched on May 15, 2009 in a former crafts mall and had recently begun expanding its collection to include more antique tractors and farm implements.

Those interested in getting their 650-horsepower kicks in the form of a 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 can now at least partly satiate their longing with an online configurator. And, as you can see above, you are free to deck your favorite 'Stang in any number of classic racing colors... or even in Superman-spec red and blue.
Outlandish color choices aside, there are plenty of interesting options for the fastest factory Mustang ever created, including the expected Sync infotainment technologies, a voice-activated navigation system and a three-subwoofer Shaker Pro audio system. Those looking for some added sportiness inside the cabin can opt for a color-coordinated pair (black and blue in the case of our config) of front Recaro seats for an extra $1,595. Sounds like money well-spent.
For those wishing to check every option available for the car, including a Shelby-branded car cover, the most-expensive 2013 Shelby GT500 hardtop will waltz off the factory floor with a $66,485 window sticker. On the other side of the equation, even a base $54,200 (*plus $795 for destination) car will come equipped with the supercharged 5.8-liter V8 capable of hurtling the GT500 to a terminal velocity of a bit over 200 miles per hour. Official: GMC reveals 2013 Terrain Denali with 301-horsepower V6
GMC has a hit on its hands with the Denali trim, but for some reason the brand's most popular crossover still hasn't donned the signature chrome grille. That will change for the 2013 model year with the introduction of the 2013 Terrain Denali.
The freshly minted Terrain Denali will of course feature a chrome front grille, 19-inch wheels (V6 model only), satin chrome accents, body color rocker panels and front and rear fascias, new headlight and taillights and a dual exhaust. The top Terrain will also receive a high-end interior, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mahogany wood accents, a soft-touch instrument panel with French stitching, Denali-embossed leather seats and illuminated Denali sill plates.
The biggest news for the Denali is the introduction of a more powerful 3.6-liter V6, which will replace the 3.0-liter V6 across the Terrain lineup. The larger V6 will output 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque, or 37 hp and 50 lb-ft more than the 3.0-liter. And if you're thinking fuel economy will suffer as a result, think again. The added power will result in the same fuel economy as the torque-deficient 3.0-liter, with 24 miles power gallon on the highway and 17 mpg in the city.
Fuel-thrifty buyers can purchase the Terrain Denali with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which outputs 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque and boasts 32 mpg on the highway. The four-cylinder-equipped Denali will feature slightly smaller 18-inch wheels. All-wheel drive will also be available with both engines.
The Terrain Denali will feature a cadre of top tech amenities too, including IntelliLink, Bluetooth, Pandora and Stitcher integration and iPod controls with Gracenote tech. This Denali also utilizes advanced safety features including lane departure and forward collision warnings and blind spot radar tech to look for vehicles the driver may not see.

Report: The Saga Continues: Consumer Reports' Fisker Karma gets new battery pack

Send a $107,000 Fisker Karma to the dealer - after an incredibly public breakdown - and get a new battery pack in return. That's the lesson that Consumer Reports learned over the weekend and the repaired vehicle is now "operating fine at our test track" after 48 hours offline.
All that CR is saying about the problem is that the Fisker dealer said that a "fault was found in the battery and inverter cable. Both were replaced as a unit." Also, while lots of dealers wash your car after you take it in for servicing, CR's dealer also charged the brand-new pack. How kind. With everything back on track - for now - CR will get to what it intended to do days ago: put the Karma through its paces.
CR's Karma is not the only one with issues. All Karmas were affected by two recalls (due to a software glitch and then battery issues) and, as we discovered last week, owners are posting about their own problems over on FiskerBuzz.

Patrick: I created false expectations
Danica Patrick believes she probably set herself too high a target for her first full NASCAR Nationwide Series season, following poor results in the opening two races. Spanish F1 venues set to alternate
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone says he is close to finalising a contract for the Valencia and Barcelona races to alternate on the calendar from next year - meaning Spain will have just one race from 2013. After months of speculation about the future of the Valencia Grand Prix, Ecclestone revealed that that event and Spanish GP organisers have agreed to share the race from next year. In an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser , Ecclestone said that he was now working on sorting out dates going forward.

Report: GM offers $1,000 off V6 Equinox and Terrain CUVs because it can't keep up with 4-cyl demand

Anyone recently shopping for a four-cylinder Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain has probably discovered they're not easy to come across. Automotive News reports that General Motors has a shortage of the 2.4-liter powerplants and the company can't say when that might improve.
Still want an Equinox or Terrain? If you're willing to give up a few miles per gallon, Chevrolet dealers are offering $1,000 off V6 models to get them out the door. On the Equinox LT, the V6 is a $1,500 option. Not a bad discount if you were already shopping for one of the more powerful CUVs.
Just keep in mind that the EPA says that four-cylinder models get 22 miles per gallon city and 32 mpg highway while the six-cylinder musters just 17/24. The EPA further notes that translates into about a $600 increase in your estimated yearly fuel bill. And in terms of performance, in our testing, we actually preferred the four-cylinder over the V6.
If you have your heart set on a four-cylinder Equinox or Terrain, a GM spokesperson says the automaker is working with suppliers to increase production of the smaller engine and they hope to meet demand soon.

Video: Toyota Priuc C ad campaign begins with "Malti-poo" spot

The curtain's been lifted on the ad campaign for the Toyota Prius C, and it's all about the game of life via the boardgame The Game of Life. The first spot is called Malti-poo and in it's ad-speaky way it targets "city-dwelling millennials" as it "demonstrates key vehicle attributes in a fun and approachable way." It "embodies the youthful spirit of the vehicle and offers creative content that integrates this iconic childhood game" while it also "offers visual tools and easy ways to share digestible information and collect opinions."
In English: it's trying to hook first-time car buyers on the notable features of the Prius C in inventive ways. Case in point: the Malti-poo spot will be followed by one called "Dolphin Tattoo," and platforms will include broadcast television, print, consumer experience and a YouTube channel that provides car buying and financial advice.

F1 may need budget cap ? Ecclestone
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone says he is open to revisiting the idea of a budget cap for teams in the world championship - as he warned squads that they should 'tighten their belts' amid current financial pressures. Former FIA president Max Mosley's 2009 budget cap plan was ultimately rejected in favour of the Resource Restriction Agreement created by the teams. In an interview with the official Formula 1 website, Ecclestone said he felt some teams were taking a delusional approach to their economic situations.
