Audi heads first practice at Sebring

Audi kept up its pre-race Sebring form by topping the weekend's opening practice session. Romain Dumas, in the No.3 R18 he will shared with Loic Duval and Timo Bernhard, set the pace with a 1m48.626s - a shade slower than the fastest time during testing, but enough to finish more than one second clear of the field. Perhaps surprisingly given Audi's almost total lockout of the front three in testing, it was the ALMS-entered No.6 Muscle Milk HPD of Lucas Luhr, Klaus Graf and Simon Pagenaud which carried the fight to the lead Audi

Alonso not ruling out anything in opener

Fernando Alonso is not ruling out fighting in front of the field in Australia despite a difficult pre-season for Ferrari. The Maranello squad has admitted it has not reached the targets set for winter testing with its F2012 car, but Alonso said on Thursday that does not mean Ferrari will be slower than its rivals when the racing kicks off.

Kopecky leads at end of day one

Jan Kopecky will lead Rally Islas Canarias into the final day after Andreas Mikkelsen backed off to fall behind his rival on the last of Friday's stages. Championship leader Mikkelsen had hung on in front despite a quick off-road moment on stage seven, but decided he would prefer to let factory Skoda driver Kopecky run first on the road on Saturday's deciding stages, so took the concluding Gran Canaria go-kart track stage steadily
