Ecclestone: Sky will grow F1 audience
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has promised that the sport's audience will grow with the onset of Sky's pay-to-view television deal from 2012. A surprise deal was announced on Friday morning that the BBC and Sky Sports will share coverage of the sport in the UK from 2012 - with the satellite and cable broadcaster showing all live sessions while the BBC transmits only half on terrestrial digital television - prompting a wave of angry responses from license holders on internet forums and Twitter . But Ecclestone, speaking after leaving a meeting to address the subject with F1's team principals, insisted that the deal is positive for the sport.

Loeb wins Rally Finland to extend overall lead
Sebastien Loeb of France won the Rally Finland for the second time Saturday, extending his overall lead in his bid to capture the world championship an eighth consecutive time. Loeb became the first foreign driver to win twice on the fast gravel roads in central Finland, with Finns having mostly dominated the race.

Loeb secures Finland victory
Sebastien Loeb has clinched the second Rally Finland victory of his career and stretched his points lead with a superb drive on the 2011 event. The world champion spent the whole weekend battling with his Citroen team-mate Sebastien Ogier and Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala, but made a crucial break on the final morning. All three used various tactics to try and ensure that they were not running first on the road on Saturday, with Loeb seeming to luck out and end up leading overnight.

Kia wants you to appreciate how much work they did to make the 2012 Picanto not just another small car, but a maximized small car. So their advertising team did something that involved a month of work and 1,200 bottles of nail polish to paint animations on 900 press-on nails. The Picanto in the image above didn't happen with CG keystrokes, but with a tiny brush strokes, and there are 899 others to keep it company.
While we still aren't earmarked to get get the tiny hatchback in the U.S., we can certainly appreciate the creativity that has gone into this spot. Follow the jump for the video, and as Roy Campanella used to ask, "What will they think of next?"

Marko Asmer will return to the British Formula 3 Championship at Spa this weekend for the first time since winning the series in 2007. Teams seek clarification on 2014 rules
Formula 1 teams are set to seek clarification from the FIA about the status of the 2014 regulations, amid concerns that details of the new rules having not been formally approved by them. New rules are supposed to be supported by F1's Technical Working Group and the F1 Commission, before being rubber stamped by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council. Although the principle of the 2014 rules - which include the switch to 1.6-litre V6 turbo engines and aerodynamically different chassis - have received backing from the teams and were approved by the WMSC in June, it is understood that some of the specific regulations have not yet been officially approved.

Rossi wants more improvements
Valentino Rossi was pleased to get back into the top 10 in United States Grand Prix qualifying at Laguna Seca, but said Ducati needs to find more pace before he can make any further progress in the race. After qualifying between 11th and 16th at each of the last four grands prix, Rossi took seventh place in America on Saturday, having finally begun to get on top of Ducati's new GP11.1 - a 2012 chassis fitted with the current 800cc engine. Rossi was keen to point out that while the Laguna result was progress, there was more to do.

The people behind Dragtimes.info love sharing videos where powerful machines are paired in head-to-head straight-line automotive combat. Recently, a unique face-off occurred when a Nissan GT-R lined up at the tree with a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 in the other lane. Both vehicles are far from stock, put down their power via all four wheels and snap off the line as if they were whips cracked by Henry Walton Jones, Jr himself.
Both drivers have a mile to go before they reach the finish line. That distance will be covered in less than 30 seconds. Click past the jump to see who's faster.

Lorenzo puzzled by practice accident
Jorge Lorenzo wants to study video footage of his free practice crash at Laguna Seca this morning, having admitted he is baffled by the accident. The reigning MotoGP champion had just made a practice start on his in-lap at the end of the session when he had a spectacular high-side at Turn 5. Although Lorenzo initially struggled to get to his feet, he was able to limp away almost unaided, and has since been passed fit to contest qualifying later today

Casey Stoner stretched his championship lead back up to 20 points by chasing down and beating title rival Jorge Lorenzo in the United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. Official: 2012 Honda Pilot to get new gearbox and revised face, Ridgeline adds Sport model

Honda is giving the company's Pilot a mild refresh for 2012. The SUV will ditch its bulky front fascia for a slightly more restrained nose with a three-bar grille replacing the thick-chrome grin of the 2011 model. In addition, Honda plans to squeeze a little more fuel efficiency out of the SUV with a new transmission, saying it will boast the highest EPA-estimated mileage of any three-row crossover. The old five-speed automatic gearbox has been replaced with six-speed unit for 2012.
Honda is throwing in a few interior updates as well. Buyers will be able to enjoy a slightly massaged cabin, complete with an updated navigation system and stereo to match. Finally, new paint colors and wheel options will round out the changes.
In addition to the revised Pilot, Honda has also added a new Sport model to its familiar Ridgeline for 2012. Above the Ridgeline RT standard features, the Sport will get exclusive black 18-inch alloy wheels, black honeycomb grille, standard fog lights, black headlight and brake light housings, and black mirrors and door handles. The 2012 Ridgeline goes on sale November 2011; the Pilot a few months earlier.See the brief blurbs from Honda for each model after the break. You can also click on either image for an enlarged view.
